Our story

1939 - 1947
Joseph Van Dievel is the first-born farmer's son of Ferdinand Van Dievel and Mie Schroons. Followed by 10 more children.

Horse and cart became the common thread in his life, where he was a stretcher bearer during the First World War as a 16-year-old. Before he married, he brought vegetables to the early market in Mechelen, to the canning factory. This became the later Marie Thumas and Bonduelle.

From his marriage to Mathilde Casteels, 2 daughters followed: Maria and Julia. Maria quickly went on the road with her father on milk rounds.

But when the Second World War broke out, the sale of milk came to a standstill. Joseph went looking for an alternative and received an offer from Papeteries de Belgique to transport paper. Again with Maria as convoyeur. They transported 2500 kg of paper between Brussels and Duffel up to 3 times a week. The horse died and the first truck, a second-hand Saurer, was purchased.

At the end of the war they could no longer find parts for the Saurer and bought an abandoned Liberty through the registration.
